Wow, This is a great book. Thanks for the reccomendation.

Im surprised this book hasnt made any waves on this side of the pond. I guess its becuase we like stories that will give us this fluffy image of what kind of mentality you need to be successful. Not one that tells us that its OK to be an ass, dont give up ownership, fight it out in negotiations, go with your gut, etc.

I loved this book, it was a nitty gritty fight for the top. I also liked the fact that there wasnt a fairy tale ending attached to it. He wasnt the top dog and he was fine with that. But he was a top player in the field. Also with that, he was probably one of the only top players with 100% ownership in his business.

Normally I make a big detour around the 'get rich' books, because the few that I read were not worth the paper they were printed on.
However, based on all the positive feedback in this thread, I've just placed an order for 'How to get rich' by Felix Dennis. I'll receive it in a few days and will get back to you with my opinion.

I haven't read through the entire book, but the main point I've received so far has been to focus on getting rich!

I mean, business isn't just about getting rich, but why waste priceless time (your life) on so many petty tasks?

I think LOTS of people are forgetting this as we head into the "social networking" age.

I'd say that depends on the person. I completely understand a person who is just pursuing money. While money doesn't bring happiness it brings freedom of time. I (along with almost everyone here) think this is the greatest thing that money brings while most think of material items money brings. If you're pursuing it for freedom of time than I think it's worth while, but chasing money for material possessions will most likely leave you disappointed (after the initial high).

I don't understand how this relates to what elses you stated. Can you elaborate?

I meant spending time on important tasks that have a major affect on your business instead of low-level tasks...

I think a lot of people are focusing on satisfying their own ego, instead of focusing on building a profitable business.

I love that!! Because then you get the BS out of the way, there is just the hard truth. And once you know the truth and how things really work, that's when you go in.

It not an affilliate link.... At least that wasn't my intent!

Just went to Amazon, typed in the title of the book to look at some of the other reviews. Copied and pasted the link from my address bar into the thread because I couldn't believe how cheap the book was! Thought others could benefit from that.

Sorry for the confusion. I'm still a little new around here and learning the ropes. MJ, if links are prohibited please let me know and I'll remove it.

If it is not an affiliate link then, my mistake. I am sorry for the accusation. Please accept my apology.

Links are not prohibited they are accepted. Consider my post as being over protective toward SPAM and any form of deception.

Apology accepted and I appreciate the PM. As a matter of fact I'm glad you said something!

I actually like the fact that people are over protective towards spam on this site. Certainly makes for a much better community if everyone keeps an eye out!

Regards,

This is a great book. You won't find something like this written by the Bill Gates' of the world....Its too hardcore and honest. Plus, I doubt Bill would be interested in you becoming rich. He would rather you make him rich. While being a publishing magnate helps, the fact that Mr. Felix took the time to write a book like this speaks volumes to the kind of person he is. From his writing style you will feel like he's speaking to you directly. I got this book yesterday and have only gotten as far as Chapter 3 - Harnessing the Fear of Failure, but I can tell you that it's hard to put down. Mr. Felix sincerely wants you to become rich. He's a classic rags to riches story. So far I don't know much about his personal background but I saw an interview of his where he professed to have been uneducated, penniless, and addicted to crack cocaine for like 10 years! He didn't go to Harvard on his wealthy parents' dime and drop out to pursue his passions while being supported financially. He had nothing. He's living proof that something can be made from nothing. Just buy the damn book already. Hugs and kisses.

This book fired me up and started me moving again after a slump during the dog days of summer in Key West. I couldn't wait to finish, 2 days and I loved it. Passed it to a friend, 7 months later he says "nah, I haven't finished it yet". You can lead them to water, but you can't make them drink...

I am going to give mine to a friend as well, see what he thinks of it. It did a good job convincing me not to go after 50 million, but to go after enough to enjoy a carefree lifestyle (around 5)

A lot of good things in that book - negotiation, stories, him spending 100 million over 10 years on partying.. (that was in a documentary I believe)
