Looking to get some info on my newest site. It just went live (this version) today, so I am still ironing it out.
Turbosmart Direct This site is focused on ROI and conversions, which is nice for me because it has forced me to think outside my comfort bubble. I have implemented several new features which should make for easy use. Please let me know what you think and also ask if you have any questions. Thanks! |

Some quick thoughts:
- Overall, very nice site. Simple, complete, and easy to navigate - The load time was a bit too long for my taste (I have a near-gigabit download pipe, and it took about 3 seconds) - Perhaps an intro page is in order? Although maybe this is just because I'm not familiar with the products. Perhaps your customers don't need an intro page - I'm not a fan of the yellowish-orange background - I'm not sure I like that shaded bar following my menu highlights. Actually, I wouldn't mind it if it worked better...but sometimes it doesn't follow the mouse pointer - Graphics are a perfect size, and text is perfect length That's about it...I like it! |

1. I would move the log in box to the upper right hand corner. ...Same with the "register".
2.I would enlarge the search box and make it look like a fill in search box and not a grey button. 3. I would add a tagline under your site name. I don't really know what you do- maybe your customers do, but I don't. I gather that you sell car parts of some sort. ![]() 4. Your featured products-aren't really featured. The drop down tab is barely noticable. 5. I don't care for the duplicate info running vertically on the left. Reason being, 1. it's confusing, and 2. at first it looks like the info is duplicate, so I skimmed it thinking it was that same that was in the nav bar- but it's not all the same. 6.I would move contact us and FAQ to a more prominent position on your page. 7. I would add a copyright and privacy disclosure at the bottom of the site. 8. Personally, I like how you have positioned your products within the online store. ...Is there any reason you don't have them set up like that on the home page? (With the price, ratings, etc.) 9. The vehicle Specific Blowoff runs off the page in IE. 10. Your continue shopping and checkout is nicely laid out and easy to use. 11. Your site does a good job with breadcrumbs. 12. I don't think you need a home/contact us in the upper left hand corner. 13. I would throw in some pictures of people. Maybe pictures of your team standing around a car with the hood open. A picture that says that you know and love what you are doing. 14. I don't quite understand the difference in your tab system. It looks like you give people the option of going to your online store, yet, then you have tabs next to the online store tab that are the products featured inside your online store. 15. I would replace the vertical nav bar content and either just leave contact us and FAQs. Or have Contact Us, FAQs and testimonials on each page. ...Ideally, product specific testimonials per product page. 16. As far as I can tell the online store tab is redundant. I would remove it, and let people just search for products via the search box or by tab. Since you seem to specialize in certain parts, I would leave them labeled at the top like you do. 17. In the review section, items are coming up as having 5 stars, when there is no review to back it up. I would have the default be 0 stars. 18. Another thought is to maybe add a forum down the line. It looks like your product fits a niche, and that niche is passionate about cars. I would use a forum to generate traffic and repeat business. That's all I see at first glance. Good for you for taking action! ++rep

Get your CTA ( add to cart) and main picture above the fold. That way if someone knows that is what they are looking for and the price is right they do not have to do any more work. You can have it on both the bottom and top. This is just the first thing I noticed.

Can you drop the "15 day Money Back Guarantee" and replace it with 30 day?
The reason is this: A 30 day Money Back Guarantee is a well-used, existing schema that all people are familiar with. It is like tying your shoelaces -- it evokes already existing thoughts and ideas. Now, when I see "15 Day Money Back Guarantee!" this immediately violates my schema and my expectations. It is perceived less than normal. Normally, violating existing perceptions of your customers is a good thing if it serves a positive purpose or conversion goal. In this case, it doesn't. I immediately think "Uh oh, whats wrong with this product that he can only give a 15 day money back guarantee?" "Why is it less than 30 days?" You post this guarantee as a benefit with the anticipation that it improves conversion -- I will argue, it will decrease it. Remove it entirely or up the ante to 30 days. (Or just say "money back guarantee" and delineate the 15 days in your terms/user agreement).

You have a spelling error on your FAQ page.
"So, if I have a problem can I call you? Or are you a 30 year old guy living and working out of your moms basement? The above senario is all to true for too many EBAY shops and fly by night parts sellers. We however, no longer live in the basement. Carter Racing operates out of a 6000+ square foot facility in Savannah GA. Besides online parts sales we have a 13 Bay shop with 6 lifts, onsite Dyno Dynamics Dyno, fabrication and motor building area, 2 alignment machines and a full service wash bay. We are here Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm EST. If you ever need any help you can always reach us during those hours. If it is after hours, please Email us and we will respond at the next possible time. If you would like to see our full contact info, click here. "

Yes, yes yes! Beepers you are so right on! ...I wasn't aware of what the parts even were.
If your market is all about speed, then feed them pictures and testimonials of who they want to be when driving their fast car.
