I must not be googling the correct thing. Embedding a PPC link is the closest thing to describing what I think I'm looking for. ...What I'm looking to do is put a link on our site, and every time someone clicks on that link we make a set fee. How do we do/track this?

I know this is probably a basic question, so thank you in advance for your patience!

I would assume the link would be to a certain page, which the PPC advertiser should track.

I haven't used these, so I am not sure but I would imagine the link would be

http://www.website.com/yvesk/ppc1.php and then they would know where each click originated and pay from there. With google analytics, you could also track the out going clicks for your own records.

Help?

Jon- I'm talking more along the lines of what Jason is saying- I think. Something where, let's say you want to advertise with our business. You register your business with our company, fill in a bunch of info and then you are charged when people click the link to your site. ...How would we track this?

You could bounce it.

I sign up with Company A and want you to embed my links on your site "yv.com"

You write a story on YV and include my link...

A user clicks the link which looks normal CLICK HERE - that goes to codehttp://www.yv.com/bounce/companya/link1 which then redirs to companya.com

Using a good analytics software (google) He could see the incoming links (number of hits) and you could see how many requests you had for the bounce page.

Thats a 'low tech' solution that would work.

I'm still a little confused . We are trying to get around having any listing fees or annual fees, and just want the people that have signed up with us to pay once someone has shown interest in their product. We don't want to join an affiliate program, as our site serves as the middle man- is there a way to track a link with our own code so we can tell the links clicked, as well as keep track of payments that are owed to us? ...The people putting their products on our site, are as varied as the sellers on ebay.

still . Thank you for the example- and yes I get what you are saying, but how do we track that data if we aren't an affiliate program? Is the easiest way to set up an affiliate program of our own?

Really, thank you for all the help!

Okay, I think I've got it now.

What you want is to run your own adserver, and lucky for you Google provides a free one that can track ad performance by clicks, actions or impressions.

It isn't the simplest system to figure out, but it is very powerful. I actually pay quite a high monthly fee for something similar, so the fact that this is free, is a great deal.

I think it's still in beta, so you'll have to request an invite:

https://www.google.com/admanager/login/en_US/index.html

If you need to be invited by someone, let me know and I'll send you one.
