If you want to make big money, you have to own the information and the company. You will never make a lot of money selling someone elses information or products on the internet.

Successful affiliate marketers can make an OK income, but they will not come close to the income of the company they are selling information or products for.

Peter2, I can relate a lot to your thing with coming up with ideas. For me they just come whenever I don't want to have them coming. I can sit at a dinner party with friends or any other social gathering and the ideas will just materialise in my head like pictures/movies. Very disturbing especially when people try to connect with you and try to find a conversation with you. I guess they see me as some kind of an Autistic guy at this point...hehe.

What I have found with people who start companies, those I have met in person at least, is that they are incredible with coming up with unique solutions to situations, products, services etc. It's like an ongoing machine in there (in their heads). I guess one of the main cores to have when starting businesses is: fast thinking. And of course the ability to analyse quickly. The most dynamic phase of a company is the start-up phase as you know. Everything moves quickly and boldly forward, every day. Very interesting indeed.

By the way, you mentioned that you had sold 3 companies. Good job. I have set a date when I will sell my financial company (the one I am working on now). The date is May 1st 2009. I think it is time to wrap things up and start that beverage company I had in mind.

Anyone heard of "Honey flavoured Green Tea"? That's my new venture in 2009. I have had discussions with a Chinese manufacturer for 2 weeks now and they seem to be very professional and easy going to deal with. Flexible with my bottle design demands too. I have teamed up with a swedish product design company as well (I know the CEO of the company since before so it was a natural partner to team up with on this).

Well, just wanted to welcome you on board as well (even though it was a while this thread was written). I have missed it before, but found it tonight. Very inspiring to read.

Peter, would you mind providing an example of a company that does this? I'm not sure I follow.

Thanks!

A prime example is TheRichJerk.com.

He wrote his own information and owns the rights to it.

The majority of his income comes from affiliate marketers that market his information for him. The affiliate marketers make peanut money while the rich jerk is raking it in.

The same goes for every single MLM company, where the distributors make little money while the company owners get super rich.

If you want to make money in life, you have to be a leader and not a follower.

I copied these posts from Peter2's intro post in the intro forum ... It is not likely to get a lot of exposure over there and it's a strategy that shouldn't be missed.

Above describes the difference between good money and BIG money.

When I owned my company, there were some good months when I earned over $200,000 in one month. I offered an affiliate program so other people could offer my services. I paid 20-43% commissions to my affiliates. I had a few thousand offering my web service.

My top affiliate consistently earned a check north of $30K. After his expenses, I imagine he was making $10K/mo.

My affiliate was making $10,000/mo === GOOD MONEY.
I was making $200,000/mo === BIG MONEY.

Lead to find big money.
Follow to find good money.

Speed+ Peter for the topic.

I just visited his site. Is the product he is offering the $9.95 package that will teach you to do what he's done? Does he teach you how to set up a business like his or is his whole trick to teach you to be an affiliate marketer and then work for him?

How is he making money if all he's offering is a $9.95 program? It says it comes with a free website, etc. Seems too cheap to me.

Secondly, let's say you are working on something that you think will pay off big in a couple of years, but need more money on a monthly basis right now. Would following his program be a good way to make "good" money...i.e. an extra $5k a month or so?

You enter the sales funnel and the backend products are endless, only limited by demand.

LMAO @ that... I've been there MANY times. I love the deer in the headlight look you get eh?

You can probably relate to this too - it's an awesome gift when creativity flows like Niagara falls but it can be such a damn burden too. I have a love hate relationship with it sometimes.

You're probably a highly visual thinker? That's exactly how I am. Have you read the book the Da Vinci code?

Sorry for hijacking the thread but your comment jumped right out at me.

I am a highly visual thinker. It just comes at me. It's like it is right there, the things you see. It's like you can see this new world you want to create. You can hear the people etc. For many people, who have a very hard time doing this visualisation, this sounds like hogwash. But this is so real when it happens. I don't know if you have seen the series "Eli" (I think the series is called). You know about this lawyer seeing war scenes and he hears rifles firing etc? It's kinda like that. Not as lively as for him, but very similar.

Interesting thoughts and comments re visual thinking.

When I designed screening rooms (movie theaters), I'd do them in a 3-D CAD program. When I worked that program, I'd totally lose track of time. It's the closest thing I think I've ever come to bliss-- just being in "the zone" and achieving a higher level of productivity/thought than in anything else.

It was always ironic to walk into the finished theaters that I'd designed. For the homeowners, these rooms were brand new, and exciting.

For me, I'd been "living" in that room for a few years already-- I'd built in in my head (and on the computer), and it looked/behaved as I expected it would. There was nothing "new" to me in that room/space.

Seeing the reality was just a confirmation of my design process.

Hard to describe the reality of this to someone else. But it's pretty cool.

Now I do the same thing, w/B&B design/development.

If only it didn't take so long (and cost so much money) between visualizing the whole thing in my head, and actually getting it to the point where we can open the doors and have people stay!!!

I want to correct some of the info on affiliate marketing here. Many affiliate marketers marketers make millions. If you know what you are doing, you are a master at DIRECTING TRAFFIC - and that's what makes money - not how good your product is, but how much traffic sees it. Good affiliate marketers jump on promising markets early (ie hoodia) and make a killing because they direct the traffic to the more juicy offers. They are very reactive because they don't have to worry about product creation and content and logos - they just rinse and repeat their technical skill, which is about traffic.

In a way it is similar to infomercials. Who do you think makes more money, the infomercial companies who do 4 new commercials for new products every month, or the individual inventors who come pitch them with their one great idea once every 5 years?
