So, I am attempting to figure out which word press theme I will be using on my new video blog website.

The main question I am looking at is: Simple vs Complex. Should I look at more of a clear, concise, simple design or should I look for something with many features and very complex.

The industry is gaming/tech.

The site will begin as a video blog then make a transition to fully functional website after a fan base is established. Primary income for website will be through ad spaced sold.

Thoughts? Comments? Theme recommendations?

My opinion would be to start out fairly simple, so that you can concentrate on the content. You can always switch themes at a later date, which is the great thing about wordpress.

See, you can always pick a more complex theme now and tinker around with it, but then later on you decide it does not suit your tastes so all that time spent tinkering has been wasted (except for the learning aspect of it).

I guess it comes down to if you've already decided on a more complex theme and you plan to stick with it. I'm assuming, however, you may still be in the development phase. So if that's the case, start out simple, create your content and as your site grows you will know what direction you want to go in which will help you better decide on what 'complexities' you would actually want in a theme.

If you are just starting out I would suggest opting for simplicity first so that you do not get bogged down with trying to make it perfect. It's better to have something out there than nothing. Sometimes when things become complex we tend to get stressed out more easily. We are also as not easily satisfied and then try to make something perfect. You shouldn't worry about that just yet. Just set up the simple vlog first and begin to get your userbase up and then transition into a slightly more complex model. People tend to prefer simplicity anyway.

I agree, I tend to prefer simplicity. One reason I am asking this is that @ template monster I can get a free year of hosting @ just host(who I use for hosting) if I buy a template. There templates are similar to the price of a year of hosting so I see no reason not to.
