As some of you may know from my previous threads I'm setting up a website. I have now (hopefully) sorted out the problem of actually creating the website because my Dad is going to use his knowledge of about 25 years of programming to learn PHP and Mysql (he says they're pretty straightforward) and then help me to learn them because I'm struggling to make progress by myself. Obviously I can only do this when he has the time to help me so I now have alot of time to learn about internet marketing. Does anybody know of any websites or books which would help me learn about different methods of internet marketing?

Thanks

My old boss wouldn't be happy to see this haha.

I never knew anything about internet marketing. I was in Calc class in college one day and decided I need to drop the #2....

And there I was, sitting on the throne, reading a classified ad about hiring kids with facebook or myspace with promotion experience and I sent my resume in.

I told them about how I used to have a myspace band page, and I knew the power of connecting with strangers and offering them something so that they in turn, would pass my songs or page to their friends. Got hired the next day.

I learned everything, SEO, SEM, internet marketing, affiliate marketing on the job, no one knew, but I spent most of my day reading and learning so that I wouldn't fall behind. I was blessed in a way because I saw it from the inside, I got to see how affiliate marketing worked on the inside, how all the technical stuff works, how promo works, how company leveraged their affiliate marketing sites etc.

Edit:

I dug up my myspace band page lol... the memories.

As far as something for you to start learning; I guess google 'digital point forum' and they have a ton of info on their forum, but you have to pick and sort through them.

I am starting up a blog and e-book, not finished yet, but articles will start pouring in soon about internet marketing. Send me a PM and I'll add you to the list.

I second the warriorforum.com or even this sub-forum.

Also, I highly suggest paying the one time fee to get into the war room at WF, simply because it is a gold mine of information in there and there is far less weeding through the rubbish to find the golden nuggets of marketing information. Plus a lot of members give stuff out for free to only the war room. Great resource IMHO.

Yes, the war room is worth it's weight in gold. I would highly suggest that if your sincere about pursuing internet marketing.

Good call CM

When you are going through all these forums and reading all these blogs don't get caught in the loop of reading and reading and reading and not implementing anything.

So many people out there, who are just getting their introduction to IM, absorb and become infohoarders and are looking for the,"next(shortcut, best, amazing, easy, step by step, etc. etc.)thing" and never actually do anything with all that knowledge they acquired. I used to be the same way until I just started throwing myself out there and figuring it out on my own.

That's the "secret" everyone is looking for. You're going to fail and things will be frustrating, but don't give up. Keep at it you'll find your "magic bullet" soon enough.

Check out Shoemoney's Blog, John Chow's Blog, Seth Godin's Blog, Johnathon Volk's Blog Darren Rowse's Blog, and
Uber Affiliate's Blog

Sorry for the links but these guys are pretty good places to shortcuts of learning the ins and outs of IM and related things. Hope it helps.

Indeed! Good post Dnuge. I should mention too, that while the war room has lots of valuable information, there is so much of it that it's way too easy to just keep digesting information while not taking any action.

Action produces results! Nothing else will!
