I agree about some natural remedies and use good nutrition, vitamins, supplements and exercise to stay healthy. I prefer natural remedies (green tea, acai berry juice, herbal, homeopathic, etc) when possible and try not to take over the counter medicine or prescription drugs unless absolutely necessary. (I haven't gotten sick nearly as much as I used to either). I totally agree that so many drugs mask the problem rather than solving it. Great analogy about the oil light!
Also, it irritates me to see pharmaceutical companies marketing drugs directly to the consumer through tv commercials. Doctors should be prescribing specific medicine based on perceived need. Seems irresponsible to be trying to convince individuals that they should take a certain type of drug and that they should go to their doctor and ask for it and get free samples. (It does crack me up, though, when at the end of the commercials, they rattle off all the horrible side effects of the drug.."For itchy, watery eyes, try XXX drug...may cause anal leakage, temporary blindness, stroke, heart attack, etc. Consult your doctor or your attorney if you end up dying from this pill...")
