Wow, finally got to read this. Awesome! Another story of "excuse" squashing!!

How many times do we hear from others "I have 3 kids, I can't be successful" or "I'm in a military family and don't have the capital to start anything"

I love these stories where plenty of "excuses" exist for the person to just say "ehh, I can't do it" and as the story evolves, the excuses that typical people would embrace, are squashed!!!

Wowsers, I knew you were making moves
but didn't realize how big.

An awesome example of taking knowledge
and then taking action!

LOVE it!

Recently found out how true this is.
For all ventures, not-for-profit also.

oh, not-for-profit. Good point, but sad too... We have a not-for-profit on our horizon somewhere and of course it is the dream that we set it up to be self-sustaining and ever-lasting. I guess that is naive. How would you even begin to set up an exit for a not-for-profit? It seems so.... squashing.

Where in Mt do you live? Do you have any websites you can recommend for commercial property in MT?

Thanks for your great story...

SnyC...

I live in the flathead area now. I lived in Bozeman/Livingston area for 5 years and as a child I lived in the Bitterroot. You are thinking of moving to Helena, right?

I don't have a reco. for a commercial web site around here. Finding a good agent is your best bet.

Yea, I'll be there in March. I can't wait, New Mexico is just not for me. Hope to do some business with you in the future. Thanks Adam

Understanding these issues and then deciding what area to apply them to was absolutely the key factor to our success.... (in addition to the constant mind stretching we have had to do)

This concept can be applied to many different areas... self storage, apartments, etc. etc.

Oh, and Adam... March is right around the corner - you still headed this way?

Sonya,

Whatever did you do with that Hotel/Home property remodel? There was talk about converting it into a cafe? You posted a picture last year. Did you make any decisions on that property?

We didn't really have time to deal with any changes so here is what we did...

We did a short term lease/option. They paid the option money - lived in it for 3 months, then decided to move... we made a tidy little profit.

The house goes vacant in a couple of days... we are re-visiting the options this week!

I have been told by our PM that the renter did take out all the hedges that surrounded the house.

Just read the story,
Wow! ... I'm in the position now about where you started, though we already have our kids (4). It's truly inspiring. ++

I just read this story for the second time. Inspiring would be an understatement. Congrats on all of your success and best of luck to keep that momentum in the future! As Mike said, it is great to see a story like that, from someone who really did not look at failure as an option. You have definitely earned the right to keep your head high.

Thanks again for sharing with us!!!

You are welcome

There have been other threads here about failure. It really is an interesting topic.

Is is really recognizing that failure is found all along the path to success. Everyone fails sometimes. Everyone makes mistakes. No one is immune from it...

It is what you do with that failure that matters.

Do you quit and bury your head in the TV with feelings of shame and inadequacy?
Or do you learn the lesson you need to learn, improve yourself, and continue on?

ATW, inspiring story. Really enjoyed the NOI and Cap Rate lesson too.

It brightens my day to read a legitimate story that assures me failures and mistakes come with the territory of heightened success.
