I have to say im doing a few different things right now and used things are amazing right now. People have cash for used things as long as whatever market you are in you fall in the middle. If you are selling used windows, they will sell asap, if you are selling a used car( a smart person would check selling numbers to chose the right ones) or buying used construction equipment for recent government jobs, they are selling. As long as you know what everyone wants in a particular market(which is easy) used things are selling so fast right now. No matter what you pick to sell as long as you are doing it wisely, you can make alot of money, this goes for anyone. If people will not buy new they have to buy used, find a position for yourself and act now, people are buying! alot. Do not be negative start calling people, see if things are selling, research resent sales and prices. Just figured i would put it out there. There is so much opportunity right now on the buying side, if you are smart you can execute the selling side very easily and do very well.

+++ speed for taking action.

Could you list a couple of examples of trades you have been successful on?

Direct mail is an excellent tool, forget ebay. How many times have you had something used, targeted to you specifically in your mail box? Never, that is why its effective. things are being given away, literally. A new Machine for a Printing Factory could be $80,000 lets say. They have no use for it at all now, and they need cash fast. In a rush, you can not get top dollar, it is rules of nature, otherwise its luck. Now a company still doing well, starting up, whatever needs another machine to expand. They do not want to spend top dollar, because they're doing "ok" not amazing. They will buy that used one. You can almost control the market by price leadership in the used segment. I know, if one company is going out, why would another buy, but that is completely wrong many people are buying even though others are dead out of business. You must be resourceful, understand they "WILL" buy used, understand others will "SELL" low. Buy low and find these buyers willing to pay "moving average" on the used item. Now you just bought a machine for 52,000 and sold it for 68,000. Once you start doing it sales go faster and faster, and do not tell me it can not happen because most likely im half your age and im doing it now. Start on the side, after work, saturdays, become obsessed with it. Your head will be a price roladex, start on atleast a 2k item. My first item day 1 was 2k, sold 2 days later for 3,200. Moved to 5k, 10k, 15k my profit was actually not better, maybe worse the lay out 2k to make 3,200 ratio was working perfect and fast. Once i moved into the 50k and larger marker, things def take longer, but once you have multiple things, eventually they will sell and you will make 5-10k each item, to make an extra 50-100k cash right now is not bad. It is wheeling and dealing but ive expanded past that, and a smart person with vision can as well. You have to enjoy this to some degree, to me i like doing it, even if something is broke or needs to be addressed, i enjoy sourcing out and getting it done cheap. Go to auctions, i went yesterday, NO ONE was there. BUT, ive studied recent sales on a particular item online, then picked up the items similar, it was literally a war between people trying to buy. Sell things to growing businesses. A business may suffer 200 miles away from the same industry. Get something shipped, go pick it up, make sure there is a large enough price gap, find buyers, make money. There, there is my slogan,

PRICE GAP ^ FIND BUYERS ^ MAKE MONEY

i have been doing this for a while with anything i could, like i said its fun to me, people don't realize, most used car salesman businesses make more than new car salesman businesses. Negotiate with sellers, that is the key component. Everyone wants 20k, everyone, no matter what, when i pay 13,000, i sit there and know that i am about to make money, its that simple. Is it easy underpaying? extremely hard, but imperative to being successful doing this. Do not buy something stupid please, do not go buy rims, or a computer to flip. Buy a civic, cheap cheap cheap, for 3k study market price, sell for 5k, sell 5 thousand pounds of steal, do generic high selling items, and do random items that the market has no differentiation, it will be easier to sell, smaller market, but higher success rate.

Hehehe. Sorry, I don't think you will hear me telling you it can't happen and I don't care how old you are. Good job in the hustle.

I just wrote the same thing in my action thread!

I recently started listing my old (but new condition) items and they are all selling extremely quick for the same price I bought or even more years ago.

I need to focus on creating/delivering my own products asap. Not exactly sure what they should be yet though.

Just to give you an example of out of the box or how wide this market is...

I know someone who purchases crashed airplanes, sells the components. In a way it's sort of sad, but as soon as a plane crashes there are vultures trying to purchase the wreck. They watch the news all day looking for crashes. It could be a huge 747 or a small cessna, doesn't matter. At first you may wonder what could be salvagable, but if you think about it, how much would a person pay for a replacement OEM shift knob in their new porsche? Now extrapolate that to any OEM part on a lear jet... then think of what OEM parts cost on a jet vs. a car.

Great thread, Joey.

This is a perfect tie in w/scout's "1st Annual Junkathon Challenge" thread-- why not SELL all the stuff you have laying around, if it's worth something?!?
