Well, this is it; this decision could determine who controls the fashion doll industry; Bratz provide strong competition for Mattel, but Barbie is still a strong brand, so if the jury rules in Mattel's favor and they get the Bratz brand, Mattel will dominate flat-out the fashion doll industry. If they rule in MGA's favor, the competition will continue.

Mattel, MGA court battle over Bratz goes to jury - Forbes.com

P.S. I wasn't sure if this was the correct news forum for this, I figured since Isaac Larian is an entrepreneur (owner of MGA, the Bratz maker), it fit.

Mattel won the first portion, the jury ruling that the original drawings of the dolls belong to Mattel; now they must decide if the subsequent Bratz designs violate these drawings or not; if so, Mattel probably will win the entire franchise.

Here is the official response from MGA, they give better detail than me: http://www.mgae.com/downloads/pressr...7-08%20_2_.pdf

Well, apparently, according to this press release by Isaac Larian: http://www.mgae.com/downloads/pressr...4-08%20_2_.pdf

someone on the jury used racial slurs in reference to Larian and his family. Call me crazy, but something told me his being Iranian and a Jew might (unfortunately) come against him in this case.

I wonder if one of the "Law and Order" series will adopt this case for a plot after it is over as they tend to do that.
