So I'm nearing completion of my base website to support this forum and I'd like to hear what everyone would like.

Some things I've ascertained from user's prior postings.

1) Your own Fastlane Blog (useful for those who want to get political!)
2) Rate books you've read
3) A wiki system to explain all of our terms (COC/ROI/SEO,PPC)
4) Sub-Groups (Ecom group, Real Estate group, etc.)
5) Some element of SN

What do you think would be of value to the community and to yourself? Please don't hesitate to *dream* ... some things might be easy to implement while others not so.

How about an interactive game of some kind based on getting into the fastlane, etc -- where everybody can log in once daily and have a certain number of turns in the game. People would earn virtual dollars, and could compete with each other to become the richest. If you could find a way for people to spend their virtual dollars, that would be cool also.

Cheers,

- Hakrjak

I second Hakrjak, but maybe not for the book promo site. A portal seems to fit.

MJ, remember your example from way back when in the Pleben thread? Do a version of that! Build the brand with Fastlane gear.

Hypothetical situation: If someone were to want an icon/emoticon of Mr. Burns strumming his fingers together, would that be possible?

I'd like to see some section of the site dedicated to Fastlane Successes -- similar to the success stories we have on here, but in a more professional, organized manner.

It'd be cool to have some other areas that emphasize some of your "Fastlane" ideals -- things like the value of your time (and examples of how to do so), innovating, entrepreneurial premises; basically, just things that re-emphasize everything that's been stated here on the forums and that will be in your book. The best way of learning is through repetition, so the more people see these concepts, the better they'll grasp them.

To build on what Yank said, you should have a section that deals with struggle more. It will connect with users better. I don't think I'm making sense here. lol

I think we touched on this with the detours thread ideas. But I'm specifically talking about facts directly from fastlaner's mouths. I'll try to give an example...

This is not exactly what I mean, but something I have tried but wasn't successful at. I started a couple threads asking questions about hardships and such. It obviously wasn't worded correctly to get the response I was looking for (timing was bad too--right before we started talking about a "struggle" thread addition). What I was looking for was further details about the sacrifices, trials, and tribulations experienced by those who have made it.

Reason being, when fastlaners are asked questions about where they are today, they (you do this often MJ) typically always mention the times others did not see, what they went through or endured to reach the point where they are today. And that onlookers always comment on the here and the now, but have no clue about the yesterdays.

So in a nutshell, I was looking for further experiences that delve into individual fastlane success stories for inspiration, or maybe even something to relate to. And that's my suggestion here. Create a better connection with your visitors and it should lead to better success and promotion.

Edit: Don't think I'm speaking as though the current forum is inadequate. Quite the contrary. lol You might have a "Fastlane Addicts" area-- I would definitely fit in, possibly even lead the herd.

An escort service section. You asked us to dream.

Now to serious:

a books-rating section and Subgroups would be a good idea.

Actually, t-shirt marketing can be incredible. With the proper design, I have heard of a few people sporting them around town, or even downtown at the bars, having great success.

I'm undecided if that's something I would be interested in....The constant, "what's that"?

A Brainstorming section would be nice. Ideas (not your actual products more in general), revisions of ideas, hypotheticals, virtual marketing strategies, trend spotting, "one upping" (ego in action ). Could even make it some kind of a game. Market monopoly clone like. Could even use something like the speed rating system and call it speed daemon's autobahn.

THE FAST LANE is one of the few forums I visit regularly other than some others I've been participating at for a long time on and off. I'm usually digging in older archives more than anything though as they seem to have slowed. I'll spend some time thinking about this and be glad to post anything I can think of to help. I'm here because I liked your story MJ, and I like the fast lane systems theme.

I like the Wiki idea/thing or whatever exactly it is. If it automatically injects itself into the text when someone types an acronym that would be cool for all.

I used to like to chat with like minded people. Maybe a set-up where we can be available only to each other, if and when available on this site, in our given areas of expertise.

Maybe a joint venture section where we can really brainstorm and do it with the right people. There may be people here willing to team up to get some things done.

While you're asking...how about some earned advertising on your site for your early participants. It seems like a neat idea that you can somehow get a stake in the success of someone elses website by simply participating. That sounds viral!!! Or maybe it's a pyramid...ooops. I like the idea regardless. I look forward to participating when I see your membership go over 1 million.

You should do a poll once you get it all together.

I second PurEnergy's idea of a JV section.

Thanks guys I am reading and taking notes ... appreciate the feedback!!!

Regarding the JV section, there is a danger to this as it borders on solicitations for investments which is a gray area of legality (here in US).

Mindcheck? Uh yeah! You don't have to pay for it if you're really in the fastlane! Who's the minuteman you were speaking of?

That's why I suggested the brainstorming/game section that should a really good idea come out of it actual contact and litigation could be handled all above board, more or less it would not be the soul purpose but a nice possible side effect negating legal issues. Course, given if it were a game it would have to be clearly marked as to state so and point possible proper channels out in there. In essence where do theaters make more money the movie or concessions (per Capita via Markup). A win win is always a good thing

I don't know if this has already been said but I'll vote for a car section. One of the finer things in life. Hot Rods included please. I am looking forward to seeing your site.

I think it would be helpful to have a form or worksheet (PDF) to guide people through making their PLAN. Also a handout/tips for keeping focused and taking action on the things that will move your plan forward (i.e., goals, time management, affirmations, etc.)

It would be helpful for newbies (and those who want to review) to have an area of the website that covers all the major attitudes and habits of fastlaners, such as those discussed in the legendary threads. Maybe this is already planned, not sure.

What if you had special sub-forums/communities for people from certain common situations, such as: people with kids, young people in high school or college, 40+, single, married, men, women, etc.? Not sure if this would become politically incorrect at some point... just throwing it out there. Time to HTH.
