I just got a notice that Diane is going to Washington DC to join a roundtable discussion on education and financial literacy. Congrats to Dianne. Good job, you earned it.

What a whirlwind trip! Hey, Lighthouse, I do get the info@ emails, but they take a little bit to filter through to me.
I've been posting on it at my blog on www.BusinessToInvestment.com. Bottomline, I was impressed and didn't expect to be. It wasn't nearly the posturing that I thought it would be, there are some people that sincerely care about solving this major issue in America. My absolute favorite was John Hope Bryant. He is the most powerful, passionate speaker I have ever heard...and I've heard a lot. And in person, he's amazing as well. He connects and cares about every single person and issue. The new Secretary of HUD is a smart guy. He's fighting a very hard battle and I'm not sure how this will all shake out. I liked the fact that he got there were two separate issues that needed to be addressed separately: credit issue and housing issue. There IS a place for Subprime mortgages, but not in the way they've been done. AND there needs to be a way for people to take a breather if they get caught up in a life circumstance. One provision that came to the council when I was there was to require that mortgage companies give a 6 month extension if there is a "life circumtance" (lose your job, etc) and you've made 18 months of on time payments. I think that's smart. Wells Fargo is backing the bill. |

Such a simple answer . . .
And here I thought you were part of some top secret govt cloning program . . . ![]() Seriously, Diane, may I also safely assume that you have a mind that does not stop? That you *enjoy* being mentally active? I ask this only b/c that's how I've been able to accomplish many of the things in my life-- I don't really have a choice-- I'm always thinkin'! ![]() ![]() ![]() -Russ H.

I'm not a big fan of social welfare, but this one thing could really make a difference for some people. Of course, it would suffer abuses as well. But 6 months-- perhaps the unpaid mortgage payments could simply be added on to the balance. This would make it "better" for the lenders, in that they wouldn't lose as much. Interesting idea. -Russ H.

That'll get it done. I drink diet coke. too much of it too. I got into caffeine after we added a couple kids to the mix. Having kids makes your days long sometimes!
