Very cool....

And any of you that might work for a fortune 500 company, as I do -- with an Enterprise licensing agreement can probably get MS Office and any other Microsoft product for $0

Cheers,

Is MS Office that much better than Open Office (100% FREE!)?

I actually thought about open office. My only concern is compatibility with others that use MS products. It will read MS docs though won't it? There's a converter plugin or something?

From the programs within Open Office that I've used (comparable to MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), there's always an option to save in the MS format -- .doc, .xls, .ppt.

I haven't had much of a problem with crossing between formats aside from an occasional formatting or alignment issue.

I agree with Yankees in that OO is a very good alternative for MS Office and , IMHO, about 98% compatible. I say that because a co-worker does a lot of heavy mathematical spreadsheet calculations (he's a h/w reliability engineer) and tried it out, only to find it didn't always produce similar results.
