The goal of this thread is to find and post ideas that you consider very clever.

I want to start with this one:

Left Lane Drivers Unite!

Many here understand this one, I think it is simply brilliant.

This grill coming up on them at a buck 10 or so seems to move them over pretty good. Last summer coming back from the Mercedes meet we had 3 S class's in convoy, plus an E. My friend in his silver S600 led the way at a 105, followed by my blue SDL, and my other friends black S320, with an old 280E in the rear, and we all followed him pretty close. Since we all had Euro plates on the front, it looked like a UN convoy, people moved pretty fast.

I gave up on educating left laners. First I tried to flash my high beams as is standard practice on the Autobahn to signal for a pass. But they are clueless, so I just dive around in the center at the first chance. Not the ideal solution, but certianly better than sitting behind mom in the Explorer doing 58. The shyt box SUV's seem to have a limiter to about 60mph at night, not sure why but its uber annoying.

I LOVE it... although I have to admit I have met a few people in my day by purposely blocking (cute guys) driving behind me in lane by slowing next to right lane traffic! Free drinks all night one time for me and my best friend!

I just found this today:

Auction | Cheap TV laptop ipod auctions - bid & win on Swoopo

It's basically a bidding site that sells things at (seemingly) really cheap prices. The auctions always seem like they're about to end (eg. ten seconds left), but if you place a bid the price and the time left both increase.

The clever part: Each bid costs $0.75 to place. They sold a Toshiba laptop for about $43.57, but the price increased by just a penny per bid. Therefore: 4,357 bids were placed (making $0.75 each), but the person who actually wins the laptop really feels like they're getting a deal.

I wish I'd thought of that...

That auction site really is 'clever'.

If there are no gimmicks behind the bidding mechanics, it looks like it could have a very long-term following (if it doesn't already).

And while we're at it, adwords was also a very clever move on Google's part. So it's like clever cubed. We certainly live in a clever world.

I gotta say that I think the premise of American Idol is probably the most clever idea I've seen in a long time. It's one big market test. Do you like contestant "A" or "B"? "A" gets voted off. Do you like "B" or "C"? They basically funnel it down until they have a proven money maker, all the while making money every step of the way. Friggin brilliant.
