I presume we're all here with the goal of getting in the fast lane. Some are in it, some are close, some are far away, and some dream of it but will never get there. Regardless of your position, here's a question I'd like to ask:

What's on the other side of the fast lane for you? Why do you exist, besides for financial, lifestyle and family success?

For me, I'm a social scientist and I'd like to think I'm an agent of good. Social science is a passion because I'm a curious person, and people are the focus of that curiosity. The human condition is a fascinating and beautiful thing, which I'd like to know more about. As for being an "agent of good", I'd like to think I have the skills, resources and will to change things around me for the better in a profoundly meaningful way.

How about you?

Why am I here? Where do I go to? - You are not asking the small questions, don't you?

For me the best answer is a reference to my nick name: My purpose and biggest goal is to live life and find out. Maybe I figure out for myself by helping others (starting with my wife and daughter) to ask the relevant questions so that they find out for themselves...

Btw, me being a physicist would subscribe to your last personal statement with just little word substitutions (replace "social science" with "physics" and so on)

After I become financially free I want to start a band. I think that's one of my biggest non-finance related goals.

I'd also like to travel around the country and the world. Not to see historical structures or monuments or anything, but just to visit different cities and hang out there for a while. Some of my friends think I'm crazy, but whenever I go to NYC I don't like going to Time Square I would much rather go to Greenwich Village or the Upper East Side and just see how the regulars live. I think part of this is because I don't exactly know where I'd like to live after I graduate college and I'm really curious about different cultures/areas.

My goal is to help single parents and kids with absent dads.

One thought I had was to build this little community of mobile homes near this local college town. I would rent out the MH to the single moms. The community would be designed to help them get their lives straightened out. If they needed more education and transportation we would provide a shuttle van service to the college. If they needed a car I would find a used car and let them pay me out for it. The moms could help with the day care of each other's kids while they are in classes. I would also have on site laundry services available. Definitely have an outdoor play are for the kids.

Not sure if it would even be legal, but sounds like a good idea.
But what about the single dads? Also how would you go about only keeping the deserving parents there?
Why was I put on earth? I don't know. It is something I have wondered, and I guess I will find out soon enough .
If there is one thing I would like to do to help in the future, it would be to help the kids...especially the ones without any positive role models(which seems to be a growing number, at least from what I have seen). I can't really feel sorry for most adults in bad situations. If you they have a legitimate reason for being in that situation, that is one thing. However, most have no good reason.
I think it is pretty sad that we still have kids walking around with no shoes or shoes that are only half there, wearing no coats in the winter etc. The fact that in this great country some kids go to sleep starving, is a pretty sad fact to me as well.
I would love to be able to get children away from parents that have no business raising them and find people who would raise them properly, however I know that would be a huge waste of money and not much good would come from it. (not a political forum so I will leave it at that)

Funny.

I had a very similar vision - - - only added a third generation. Retirees that could also be "adoptive" grandparents to the kids in the neighborhood.

Why would it not be legal? It would be a private enterprise. Maybe due to equal housing laws?

As far as single dads, I'm certain they need help as well. Just not my area of concern. Statistics show that when a split occurs the womans standard of living goes down and the mans goes up. Experienced this first hand from a kids point of view.

As far as figuring out who deserves what, I haven't got all the bugs worked out yet.

Yves, great idea about the grandparent thing!

I just want to have some fun, get some cool toys, and enjoy what life has to offer. The world is also quite large and I plan on seeing as much of it as possible before I die.

Being broke sucks, and working your life away at some crappy job is worse.

Besides two of my good friends are on career/business tracks to make a ton of money, so I can't get left behind. I'm not going to let my friend get his Lambo before I get my Ferrari(Or Zonda).

I want to help people. I don't mean that in the sense of just donating money to people who need it; I mean it in the sense of teaching people that there's a better way to live more comfortably and more enjoyably. More on that once I figure it out...

I want to do things that will open people's eyes. I want to educate them on money and investing, and get them started on the right path. In addition, I want to teach them how to enjoy life.

I see so many of my friends that live life every day without any real purpose. Yeah, they're kids and trying to have fun, but they don't really have much of a purpose yet -- or a PLAN as Russ would say.

I'd also like to coach baseball in my free-time.

In the end, I just want to be somebody that had a positive impact on people's lives. The more people, the better.

I want to help motivate & educate battered women & children. I used to be one, and want to let them know that they don't have to stay in that circumstance and that they CAN have a better life....it's in their hands. I want to help these women to realize that they don't have to be victims for the rest of their lives and not to let one bad relationship determine their self worth and their futures.

Since I'm an immigrant from China, I always care about the relation between China and the US. So my ultimate goal is to help each country to improve its relation with other countries of the world

Creative developer. I do what I will do when I have the billions. I live my dream now. Defering dreams are rather low intelligent. Smart people find ways of getting what they want now without bankrupting themselfs and without selling their soul.
