"A dream is just a dream. A goal is a dream with a plan and a deadline."

-Harvey Mackay

I just read this one and I liked it a lot, I believe everyone could use this reminder once in awhile. Every time I have set a goal for myself I have worked with my heart completely invested into the project, and got it done on time. And the other times, when I have not set a goal, I find myself going off on tangents and losing the focus of the original concept.

So I ask you today. Have you set your deadlines? Not only the "Where will I be in a Year" deadlines. But have you planned for next month? Next week? Tomorrow?

Think back to this quote and remember, nothing will get the job done by itself.

-Alex

Excellent quote.... Most people walk around saying some day. Instead of picking the day themselves, setting a deadline is the most effective way to get anything done. Without it there is no sense of urgency.

Michael M.

"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes"

Thanks for the response quote! This is also a good one, and very true. This is why if I have a great idea as I am going to sleep, I always tell myself "Hey, we sleep 1/3 of our lives anyways, what the hell!" And with that I jump up out of bed and begin brainstorming more on my computer, usually in word, jotting down my thoughts so I can sleep on them and put them in motion the following day.

another quote i like is also by henry ford it goes something like this "whether you think you can or cant do something your probably right", its all about visualising your goal's/dreams and acting upon it even though the whole world thinks you wont achieve it.

Yes, I know that one. Very true. You set yourself up for what is to come.

Thanks!

I agree. The only way to truly accomplish something is to have an optimistic mindset.

If you are a doer, this question is rather obvious. It's part of you. My plan is to make $100 Million in cold hard cash the coming 4 months. And I will do it with OPM entirely. Infinite return.

Besides the <52 week goal setting, it's also very powerful to take a big step back every once in a while to see if you are actually heading in the best long term ( >10 Years) path.

I could use to do this more often, as I tend to brainstorm while I'm laying in bed at night.

If you always think as you always thought, You'll always get what you always got.

Very true. I'm glad you quoted what I said again as well, it serves as a good reminder to me to keep doing just that. When I have a good idea (or even a bad one), I make it a point to write it down, even if it means getting up out of bed. I catalog them all on my computer, and go over them later on.

Lil Wayne hints at the working all the time in one of his songs (not talking about his talent, but his work ethic, there is no denying it). He works harder than many other people (he appears on more songs than anyone, and has tons of his own stuff out.) And in the song "Mr. Carter" he says:

"I flush'em and watch'em go down the drain quick
two words you'll never here "WAYNE QUIT"
cuz wayne win and they loose
i call them april babies cuz they fools
and while they snooze we up
feet up"

I heard that and it reminded me that any time is a good time to be working towards your dreams. Even 3:30 in the morning!

As they say, it is only wishful thinking until you set the goals and build a plan.
